One of the problems with the old boys’ network is trying to get them to do the right things by their clients. I have been the victim of leasehold fraud. I paid for a leasehold property and then learned that I would never own the property. The building society gave me a mortgage and never said that the years outstanding on the lease was too short (77 years at onset). My solicitor and valuer never advised me about the pro’s and con’s of leasehold. I am now told that in order to sell the property, I have to extend the lease and pay the freeholder an exorbitant amount. Leasehold is a system of racketeering and corruption. The banks, building societies, solicitors and valuers all work hand in hand together to deceive the public. What a disgrace for a so-called civilized society!
